This will now be my default response to all “Fake Geek Girl” fuckery. You’ll probably be seeing it a lot. Like: A LOT. Feel free to add appropriate, “Btchplz” gif.
I mean, I could totally parse out the misogyny from both men and women, the cultural dynamics of cliques, etc., etc., ad infinitum. In fact: I HAVE. And I am tired, I am beyond bored with it.
So, here’s a simple tip: GET OVER YOURSELVES, FELLAS. The scary pretty girly-girls are not hiding vagina dentata or scissors to steal your coif of power, yadayadayada.
If your poor egos and manhood can’t take being pwned by a girl… allow me to play the world’s smallest violin for you.
You got bullied as a kid for being a geek? Awww, so did most of us.
You had no one to play with? Awwww, so did most of us.
You had to hide your nerdery or risk being bullied? Awwww, so did most of us.
You were told it wasn’t manly to be a nerd? Awwww, we were told that not only was being a nerd bad but it wasn’t ladylike.
Blah. Blah. Blah. Boo-fucking-hoo.
We survived it, and now we’re not hiding. You don’t get to run the show, fellas.
And ladies who talk about fake geek girls: please for to get the fuck over wanting to be the queen bee. We know it’s tempting, but it’s really horrible to diss other women cuz they don’t present the way you think they should to be authentic.
There are some real issues of misogyny both cultural and internal in the geek community, but that’s not the conversation we’re having.
The conversation we’re having is trying to convince these beleaguered, pathetic asshats to accept us.
I don’t need them to accept me, none of us do. We can do it without them, and they can just step off and get the hell out of our way.
I am BORED TO TEARS with coddling their egos.
They’re not the majority, anyway. Let them whine somewhere else.
