h/t to @Sherlockology for posting the update.
The National Theatre/NTLive will be offering encore screenings of Frankenstein this summer
I’ve mentioned a gazillion times that Frankenstein is the best play I’ve ever seen. It really is. It made me excited about theatre again. The NTLive program made me excited about theatre again. That it would be possible to see the best productions London has to offer, in cinema, for a reasonable price (about $20USD, $16USD for students/seniors.)
This play, although slight in text, is a vibrant celebration of the theatre arts.
I urge everyone I know to sign up for the updates if you haven’t already, find the cinema in your area that’s showing the broadcasts and go see other productions, beg your local boutique cinema to screen NTLive, because it’s brilliant.
Needless to say, if they’re offering the role swap screenings, go see both.
Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch bring very different things to each role, and I feel it’s necessary to see both in order to fully appreciate the dynamics.
I’d also say: if they’re doing more than one screening of each, do it. Splashing out on multiple screenings was well worth it, last spring.
